  1. Open the Menu bar of your Device.
  2. There will be an option of Software Update in the list. Choose it.
  3. There you have to select the option of downloading updates over Wi-Fi and turn it off.
  4. After this setting, whenever a new update will arrive your Device will notify you to download it.
  5. You can then install it if you want by going to the setting and clicking on the option of download and Install under the heading of Update.

Turning Off Auto Update by Developers Mode

Another easy way to stop receiving the Auto-update activities, again and again, is by turning your Device into Developer mode. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the option of settings on your Device.
  2. Look in the end to see an option of About Phone or About Device.
  3. There you have to select Software information.
  4. Choose the option of build number.
  5. You will be notified that your Device is on developers mode.
  6. In the Software setting, Turn off the Auto-update mode.
  7. Your Device will now update the Apps and software when you allow it.

Turning Off by Google Play

If you do not want to fumble with your device setting. Another thing to do is disabling this Auto-update process from the Google Play store. You will have to follow these steps:

  1. Open the App of Google Play Store on your Home screen.
  2. Upon opening the menu icon, you will see an option of setting.
  3. There you can disable the auto-update option.
  4. Press ok.

Final Words

This Auto-update option can also be turned off individually for each App. This way, you can choose which App you want to allow to auto-update while you can stop all of the rest.

Apps that are critical, like WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter, Instagram, etc., should be given access to updating to avoid any kind of glitch
